Reducing waste at work

Step 4. Measure your progress and share the results.

After your program has been running for six months to one year, go back and reassess your waste stream to measure your progress. This will give you an idea about how successful your program has been and which areas need improvement. Compare your recent garbage and recycling bills to your old ones.

Broadcast your successes to employees, customers, and clients. Use your website, newsletters, social media, etc.

Tell us how your organization has improved recycling or prevented waste.

Calculate the benefits of your efforts. The EPA’s WARM calculator is a free tool that helps you easily convert the waste you prevent or recycle into greenhouse gas emission reductions.
