Green decorating ideas

Living Trees

  • Consider investing in a living tree for the holidays this year. Living trees can be used year after year and when they grow too big to bring inside, they make a great addition to your landscaping!
  •  Check out Stream Team’s “Holiday Trees for Streams” program. Purchase a potted tree for the holidays. After the holidays you can either plant it yourself or donate it back to the stream Team to be used during a future restoration event.

Plan a zero-waste party

  • Use washable dishes, glassware and napkins rather than disposable plates, cups and napkins.
  • Offer small initial servings and plenty of seconds or thirds.
  • Turn down the heat before guests arrive - the extra people provide plenty of warmth.
  • Send leftovers home with your guests in re-usable containers.
  • For seldom-worn fancy party clothes, consider renting or looking in consignment shops.
