Hiring a Contractor for Stormwater Facility Maintenance

Property owners are responsible for regularly inspecting their stormwater facilities and performing maintenance when necessary.  Appropriate maintenance activities could include invasive species managment, sediment removal, fence repair, etc., and in some cases may require the use of a contractor that can provide special equipment or expertise. 

When hiring a contractor, it’s recommended to obtain at least three competitive bids, making sure to provide each contractor with the same information and list of requested services.  If your stormwater facilities have been inspected by Thurston County staff, you may want to provide the latest County inspection report to the contractor to assist in compiling an accurate bid estimate.
