Long Lake in Thurston County

Long Lake

Located about 5.5 miles from Olympia, Long Lake is a popular destination for fishing, water skiing and swimming.  Local residents have long valued the lake as a treasure for their community, and have actively managed the health and quality of it's waters since 1983.

The health and quality of water in Long Lake is managed by a lake management district.  (A Lake Management District, or "LMD," is a special-purpose district that funds lake-management activities through charges on lake-area properties.)  A volunteer citizen advisory committee directs the activities of the Long Lake Management District, with staff support from a lake specialist at Thurston County.
