Assistance
for Noxious Weed Control on Grazing Land and Forest Land
Technical and
financial assistance for control of certain noxious weeds
on grazing land and forest land is now possible under
these programs:
USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service
Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) and
the Wildlife Habitat Incentives Program (WHIP)!
To qualify for funding:
-
The applicant must own or lease the land and have control of the land
for the life of the contract.
-
On farms and ranches, the applicant must have sold $1000 of
agricultural commodities (food/fiber) two of the last five years.
-
On forest land applicants must either have a stewardship plan, or be
able to demonstrate that they have made some investment in tree farm.
Reimbursement rates and how
noxious weeds will be treated will depend on where the treatment area is located, the presence of native plants, and planned land use.
