Solid Waste and Recycling
Solid Waste Advisory
Committee
Committee
Responsibilities
The Solid Waste Advisory
Committee reviews all issues affecting Thurston County’s solid
waste programs, and makes recommendations to the Thurston County
Board of Commissioners. Among other things, the committee
examines garbage operations and rates, curbside recycling
services, the solid waste budget and public-information efforts.
One of the committee’s most important tasks is to help craft a
five-year "Solid Waste Comprehensive Management Plan" -- a
blueprint for how Thurston County and cities manage garbage now
and in the future.
Committee
Membership
The 14-member Solid Waste
Advisory Committee is made up of elected officials, citizens, and

appointed by county commissioners and serve three-year terms. For
a current list of members, please call Ruth Pierce at (360)
