Grand Mound Water and Sewer
Services -- Commercial

Billing
Information
Monthly utility bills include three rates:
- a water-usage
rate
- a water base rate
- a sewer base rate
Water usage rates are based on how much
water is actually used as measured on a water meter.
Water and sewer base
rates are calculated based on the equivalent household-worth of water a business
uses (called an ERU). One ERU is assigned to every 700 cubic feet of
water used. (By contrast, the connection fee ERUs
are based on the TYPE of business.)

|
Monthly water usage rate
(per 100 cubic feet as measured by a water meter, which is roughly
750 gallons)
|
$1.72 |
Water base rate (per ERU,
meaning per 700 cubic feet of water used)
|
$30.26 |
Sewer base rate (per ERU,
meaning per 700 cubic feet of water used)
|
$65.49 |
Example
of a Monthly Bill
ABC Groceries uses 2,200
cubic feet of water in January. For monthly bills, one ERU is equal to 700
cubic feet of water. So, ABC Groceries has used 3.14 ERUs. The store
is charged for 3 ERUs because we bill only in whole increments. (Partial ERUs are rounded
down to the next whole number for monthly bills.)
