Solid Waste and Recycling
Thurston County's Sustainability
Policy
Thurston
County's Sustainability Policy was adopted by the Board of County
Commissioners on February 12, 2007 after a lengthy review process
involving department heads and elected officials. This policy
encourages departments to reduce waste, increase recycling,
conserve energy and water, use green building techniques and
practice environmentally preferable purchasing.
As a result of this new policy, Thurston
County is continually looking for ways to reduce workplace hazards
and protect environmental and financial resources by reviewing the
products we are currently buying, and directing dollars toward
more environmentally responsible alternatives.
Thurston
County's goal
is to lead by example and improve our own operations, while
helping others do the same.
