Mediation is a meeting between people to discuss issues of mutual interest, with a neutral third party mediator providing guidance during the discussion.
Except in cases involving domestic violence, the mediatorís job is to keep the emotional climate safe for the parties and the discussion focused on the issues in dispute.
The parties to any court action involving a parenting plan are required to participate in mediation before proceeding to trial. Mediation is available through the Thurston County Dispute Resolution Center
and private family mediators. The court maintains a list of trained family mediators.
