  Healthy Homes Program  
 
 

The Healthy Homes Program offers free and confidential guidance and education to residents and child care centers in Thurston County. Trained staff members work with you to help address areas of concern like mold, exposure to toxins, asthma triggers, indoor air pollution, lead, and other housing-related health risks.

These workshops are supported in part by the Washington State Department of Ecology Local Solid Waste Financial Assistance Funds.

The Healthy Homes Program provides free 1-2 hours workshops for groups of 10 or more people upon request. Participants learn how to identify, address and prevent housing-related health risks like mold, indoor air pollution, rodents and more. They learn how to apply basic healthy homes principles to daily life and why these principles can improve health and the physical condition of the home.

Healthy Homes Class

The Healthy Homes Class dives deeper into the healthy homes principles. In this class participants will:

  • Learn how to identify, address and prevent housing-related health risks like mold, indoor air pollution, toxic exposures, safety hazards, pests, and more.
  • Learn how healthy homes principles help keep the structure of a home in good condition.
  • Learn how housing impacts health.
  • Gain useful knowledge they can apply to daily life.
  • Earn a certificate of completion.

Who should take this class?

  • Renters, homeowners, landlords, parents, college students-anyone who's interested!
  • Licensed contractors & home improvement service professionals. This class is required to qualify for the Healthy Homes Vendor List.
  • Social workers, home caregivers, medical & public health professionals. This class is great for professional development!
  • The company's staff member(s) in charge of training must take the Healthy Homes Class.
  • Professionals must be licensed/registered, bonded and insured.

The Healthy Homes Vendor List is a list that Thurston County Public Health & Social Services distributes to residents looking for contractors and home improvement services.

What services does the list include?

  • General contractors
  • Pest control
  • Mold remediation
  • Weatherization
  • Home inspectors
  • Roofers
  • HVAC
  • Home renovation
  • Electricians

To qualify for the vendor list:

  • The company's staff member(s) in charge of training must take the Healthy Homes Class.
  • Professionals must be licensed/registered, bonded and insured.
