Which Inspections do I need
Non-Residential Hood & Duct - SA003 For installation of class I and class II hoods for restaurants, bakeries, schools and similar occupancies. Non-Residential Hood and Duct Guide
Non-Residential Sign - SA 004 For new signs attached to a structure or free standing. Existing signs can be repaired without a permit provided there's no alteration to the support system. Non-Residential Sign Permit Guide

In order to obtain a septic system permit or building permit, applicants must prove they have source of water.  This is accomplished by supplying a "Certificate of Water Availability Form."

Fire Alarms
Fire Alarms are required where indicated in International Building Code Chapter 9.  

Where credit is taken for fire flow a full coverage NFPA 72 fire alarm system is required.

Sprinkler Systems

Approval of FDC / Key Box Location
(must be completed by local fire district before a sprinkler permit is issued.)

Sprinkler systems are required for:

  • Commercial structures per International Building Code Chapter 9. (The Building Code applies to structures other than one and two-family dwellings and townhomes -- i.e., commercial)
  • In Olympia, Lacey Tumwater urban growth areas if the building is more than 7,500 square feet
  •   In the rural area (i.e., outside urban growth areas) if the building is more than 12,000 square feet.
  • As a trade-off for fire flow or type of construction.
