Mullen Rd Improvements
Lacey City Limits to Carpenter Rd
This section of Mullen Rd is used by nearly 12,000 vehicles each day, as well as bicyclists and pedestrians. It is also a walking route for students attending Timberline High, Lakes Elementary and Woodland Elementary Schools. The overall purpose of the project is to improve pedestrian and driver safety. Once completed, the project will also connect county and City of Lacey road enhancements to improve traffic flow, reduce traffic congestion and accommodate future traffic demands.
The project includes a widened road with dedicated bicycle lanes, sidewalks, lighting and crosswalks along with a new roundabout at Mullen and Carpenter Rd and a left turn lane on to Mullen Rd at Glen Terra Dr. Environmental improvements are also part of the project and include the construction of a box culvert for a stream under Mullen Rd to improve flow and fish passage to Pattison Lake.
Construction on the Mullen Rd Improvements Project will take two years to complete is expected to begin January 2020. During construction, drivers should expect delays due to single-lane road closures during working hours on weekdays for the duration of the project.
