Tye has lived in Thurston County for more than a decade with his wife, a kindergarten teacher, and two children. In 1993, Tye graduated with honors from Harvard College, with a degree in Government. In 1997, he graduated from law school at the University of California at Berkeley. During his time in law school, Tye taught himself Spanish, spent a summer studying language in Morelia, Mexico, and spent one semester studying law, in Spanish, at the University of Chile in Santiago.
Tye has also been actively involved in the local music and arts community by playing the banjo in a traditional bluegrass band, The Oly Mountain Boys, since 2008. (more)
John “Hutch” Hutchings has been married for 43 years to his wife Deb, and has two grown children and six grandchildren.Hutch has dedicated much of his life to civil service. His successful 35 year career in law enforcement included 27 years with the Olympia Police Department, three years as Chief of Police in Tenino, with his career beginning as a police officer in 1980 in the City of Orange, California.Since 2001, John has delivered keynote addresses and training to police officers, executives, and mental health professionals with the National Health Trust, in England, Scotland, Wales and Australia. Born and raised in Yelm, Gary has family roots that run deep – all the way back to the 1800’s when the Edward’s family were homesteaders in the area.Gary and his wife of 48 years, Debbie, call Yelm home and are proud parents of three children and have nine grandchildren. Debbie spends her time serving the community as well – she has spent 32 years on the Yelm School Board.Gary served our country in the Army and continuing his passion for the security of our citizens, Gary dedicated 39 years to law enforcement and was first elected Sheriff of Thurston County in 1986.
