About Undersheriff Ray Brady


Undersheriff Ray Brady grew up in Southwest Washington and attended Prairie High School. He attended Pacific Lutheran University where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in International Business and a master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA).

Undersheriff Brady joined the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office in February 2001 as a patrol deputy. He promoted to sergeant on January 1, 2007 in the Patrol Division and served as a detective sergeant from December 2011 through August 2015. He promoted to lieutenant in August 2015 assigned to the Patrol Division and transferred in July 2019 to the Support Services Bureau as detective lieutenant. On October 9, 2020 he was placed in the role of Acting Undersheriff and on January 1, 2021 was appointed Undersheriff by Sheriff John D. Snaza.

Undersheriff Brady has served in numerous specialty units here at TCSO including: Air Operations Team, Animal Cruelty Team, Bike Patrol Team, Civil Event Response Team, Dive Rescue Team, Field Training Officer, Marine Services Unit, Search and Rescue, and Public Information Officer. He was on the Dive Rescue Team for 13 years and served several years as the Team Leader. He received two Lifesaving Awards in his career in 2007 and 2011. His honors include: 2007 Deputy of Year, 2008 American Legion Post 100 Officer of the Year, 2009 Harry Easley Award for Police Officer of the Year from American Legion, and 2011 American Red Cross Medical Rescue Hero.

During his off-duty time Undersheriff Brady enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, traveling, motorcycle riding, and many outdoor activities.
