In response to Governor Inslee's Stay Home, Stay Healthy order and Safe Start Plan, Thurston County continues to operate under an essential services model. This is in effect

Field Operations Bureau - Dive Team

The Thurston County Sheriff’s Office Dive Team consists of 13 members from:

  • Sheriff’s Office
  • Olympia Police
  • Lacey Police
  • Lacey Fire

The Team responds to water related events such as:

  • Drowning
  • Submerged vehicles
  • Underwater crime scenes
  • Flood rescue
  • Swift water rescue
  • Rope rescues

The Dive Team is trained in:Diver Surfacing

  • Zero visibility diving
  • Ice diving
  • Evidence recovery
  • Ship hull search
  • High/Low angle rescue

Our team averages 30 calls for service per year.

The team is equipped with video and underwater communication equipment.
A scanning sonar was recently purchased to assist the team in underwater searches in low visibility conditions.

We also respond to assist other agencies when called upon.
