Community Outreach and Crime Prevention

A Message from Sheriff John Snaza

Crime Prevention is a culmination of efforts between the Thurston County Sheriffs Office and the citizens of Thurston County. The Thurston County Sheriffs Office is dedicated to serving the citizens of Thurston County.

The reporting of burglaries, auto theft, vehicle prowling, and vandalism is Thurston County’s most prevalent neighborhood crimes. These crimes are the easiest to commit because of opportunity and time. These types of crimes can also be difficult to solve.

With a Neighborhood Block Watch Program we can greatly reduce the number of crimes committed in our neighborhoods. Block Watch communities have proven to be an effective deterrent in criminal activity. Block Watch communities let the criminals know that they are being watched and will be reported to law enforcement.

The Thurston County Sheriffs Office can provide information and training on how to start a Block Watch Program in your neighborhood. The Sheriffs Office also provides training to citizens in many areas such as: Home Security, Identity Theft, Firearm Safety, Personal Safety, Disaster Preparedness and Domestic Terrorism.

As your Sheriff, I am proud to serve the community in which we live in. Please feel free to contact me for any assistance in which I can provide for making Thurston County safer for all of us.

Thank You.

Sheriff John D. Snaza
