Fluorescent lights

Before delivering materials, please contact these organizations directly to verify prices (if any) and hours of operation. Thurston County maintains this list as a courtesy to the public and does not endorse or guarantee the quality of the service offered or provided.

If your business accepts these materials for recycling or resale and would like to be added to this list of vendors, please e-mail

Remember that you may also be able to post your items on  other materials-exchange Web sites. Rules and restrictions vary by site.

Several locations in Thurston County accept bulbs and tubes for free as part of a Washington State product stewardship program. Please visit the Department of Ecology website. Handle used fluorescents carefully to avoid breakage. The best way to transport tubes is in their original box. Or you can wrap them in newspaper or plastic to keep them from breaking. Do not tape tubes together, as they need to be loose to be recycled. Store burnt out compact fluorescent bulbs (CFLs) in a 6-pack container, packed with newspaper. For more information on flourescent lights see this informational sheet from Environmental Health.
