Waste and Recovery Center at Hawks Prairie
The Thurston County Waste and Recovery Center (WARC) is a one-stop location where residents can dispose of garbage, yard waste, recyclables, hazardous household waste, and more!
Hours and location
Monday through Friday: entrance gates open from 7 a.m.– 4:45 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday: entrance gates open from 8 a.m.– 4:45 p.m.
Closed: New Year's Day, the Fourth of July, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day. Open on all other holidays.

The north entrance leads to the paid disposal areas. The south entrace leads to recycling, and hazardous waste disposal.
Rural Thurston County residents may find the Rainier and Rochester drop boxes more convenient.

Garbage Includes all construction and demolition debris, sod, railroad ties, appliances, vehicle tires (limit 5 per day per customer,tires must be less than 36 inches). Refrigerated appliances & CRTs/TVs: add an $18 handling fee to the regular garbage rate. |

Payment: The WARC accepts cash, checks, debit cards and all major credit cards.
Payments by debit and credit cards have an additional $2.00 processing fee. All transactions are rounded to the nearest dollar. Scales determine weight in 20-pound increments. All rates include 3.6% state refuse tax where applicable.
Photo ID: Customers must present their driver license or photo ID when disposing of garbage or yard waste.
Remember to cover and secure your load. Washington law requires motorists to cover and secure their loads (RCW 46.61.655) to prevent cargo from breaking free. Located at the entrance of the Waste and Recovery Center is an un-tarping area. Please un-tarp loads before proceeding to the scales—this helps to make the unloading process go more smoothly.
