What individuals can do

Request a presentation

Presentations for adults: Learn how important the issue is and what you can do about it. We’d love to come speak to your business, church, or neighborhood association. Why not make it a potluck? We will adjust the presentation length to fit your needs (15–45 minutes).

Call (360) 867-2491 or e-mail thurstonsolidwaste@co.thurston.wa.us.

Student Presentations: Students can find out why it is so important to reduce the food we waste and how they can help their families make changes at home. Contact SolidWasteYouth@co.thurston.wa.us.

Let us know when you find grocers or restaurants doing good things to waste less food. We may acknowledge them on our web and facebook pages.

Volunteer to help

  • Volunteer at, and donate to, your local food bank.
  • Become a Master Recycler Composter (MRC): This innovative and lively program offers a wide variety of projects as well as fun events and continuing education around issues of reduction, reuse and recycling. Help raise awareness about wasted food and other waste-related issues. Learn more at: http://ext100.wsu.edu/thurston/mc/.
